The verses describe different form of Devi Durga.

yā devi sarva-bhūtesu vishnu-māyeti sabditā,

namas thasyai namas thasyai namas thasyai namō namah 14-16

Salutation again and again to the Devi

Who abides in all beings and is called Vishnumaya.

As Vishnu Maya, she releases Lord Vishnu from her Maya , who kills both Asuras (thoughts manifested in the form of Madhu- excessive thoughts and Kaidabha - less thoughts who trouble Lord Bramha and prevented him from creating) after wrestling with them for thousands of years. While She kills them with just her delusion. Due to her Maya and Moha the asuras, in turn, ask Lord Vishnu to ask for a boon and Lord Vishnu asked them to be killed by him. Thus the great excessive thoughts (Madhu) and lack of creative thoughts (kidabha) were vanquished. Since both these Asuras were of Tamasic origin, she also had a tamasic form.

What is the underlying message of Madhu Kaitab story? All your excessive thoughts ideas or lack of ideas kill your sattva or creative energy in you. You can't be creative and you can't produce something original and new to the world if your have no idea or too many conflicting ideas. Hence you need to pray to Bhagwan vishnu to control these thoughts but only with the grace of Devi Shakti all these thoughts can be controlled. Hence worship devi too so that she allows you to be the best you can . Devi is the hidden cause of all things.

Gratitude to my Guru Ishaputra- Kaulantak Nath, who bestowed his divine wisdom onto me and Inspired me to read, research on Durga Sapthshati.
