It is a completely false story fueled by hindu phobic hatred that lord Shiva cut off Lord Bramha fifth head. This is false. During the agni stambh episode.
Lord Bramha and Lord Vishnu argue that they are the greatest. At that instant an infinite agni pillar appears, this pillar does not seem to have an end. While both Lord Bramha and Lord Vishnu try to find its end their efforts were futile. They both found an entity at the center of the agni stambh or pillar.
Lord Shiva from it says" I'm not claiming who is greater and who is not" . But I ask you to know the origin of universe and its various knowledge."
Both bow their head and Ekadash Rudrav appears to give them knowledge. Shiva is Adi Guru.
The story of him chopping Bramha's head and lying about the end of pillar is an utter lie that kaliyug time concocted.
